Description
Vernon Kilns produced its distinctive "Vernon's 1860" tableware pattern between 1944 and 1954, offering a collection of brown transferware china with nostalgic images hand-painted in color under the glaze. One of the best-known of the mid-century California potteries, Vernon Kilns closed for good in 1958 and their molds were sold to Metlox and Poppytrail. The "Vernon's 1860" pattern is known for its graceful lines and intricate designs and it is very collectible. This listing is for ONE 11" DINNER PLATE. The scalloped-edge plate has a hand-painted scene of a charming two-story farm house, barn and a meandering stream with wooden bridge. There are no chips or cracks and no crazing. There is some evidence of utensil use but it's not distracting because of the intricate pattern of the plate.
