This cute set of Hop Low Dancing Mushroom Salt & Pepper Shakers are in Near Mint Condition with no chips, cracks, breaks or rough spots. There is no loss of paint and they still have their original cork stoppers in each of the shakers.
The airbrushed colors on these delightful Dancing Mushroom Salt & Pepper Shakers are from the “Nutcracker Suite” section of the Fantasia Feature Film and are still bright & vivid. They measure 3 1/2” tall and show no visible crazing. Each shaker is marked “Disney Copyright 1941” and “Vernon Kilns U.S.A.” It will be difficult to find a nicer set than these!
Walt Disney’s grand experiment in animated film, Fantasia, had its world premiere in New York City on November 13, 1940. One month earlier, a contract was signed between Vernon Kilns and the Walt Disney Studios to produce ceramic figurines, decorative bowls and vases of some of the characters from Fantasia, Dumbo and The Reluctant Dragon. Vernon Kilns produced 36 individual ceramics from Fantasia.
Due to the high quality in the development of these beautiful pieces, combined with the ceramic’s high production cost and the start of World War II, Vernon Kilns discontinued the manufacturing of these pieces after only 18 months.
These Hop Low Dancing Mushrooms are a part of Fantasia’s “Nutcracker Suite” section of the film and perform a stately dance in what is one of the most charming sequences of the movie.
On July 22, 1942 Vernon Kilns (for financial reasons) assigned their current Disney contract to a one time Vernon Kilns employee Evan K. Shaw of Los Angeles under the name of American Pottery Co. After Vernon’s existing stock had been depleted, American Pottery continued to produce some of the Dumbo designs including two Dumbo the Elephant poses Molds #40 & 41 and a Timothy Mouse pose with Mold #38.
These whimsical Vernon Kilns Fantasia Dancing Mushroom Salt & Pepper Shakers are in Near Mint for being almost 80 YEARS OLD!
This 1941 Hop Low S&P Shaker Set would make a wonderful addition for any Vernon Kilns or Walt Disney’s Fantasia collector.
We are willing to work on the price for this item, therefore we have listed it as a BUY-IT-NOW item. You also have the opportunity to MAKE-AN-OFFER!
