Official Nintendo Paks have been upgraded with
authentic Cypress Semiconductor FRAM chips
(FM28V020-SG) by an experienced electronics technician. Cypress acquired Ramtron in 2015 and are now the sole providers of quality FRAM chips designed to replace the SRAM in memory paks.
If you see paks for sale that have been upgraded with
RAMTRON branded chips
these could be left over stock from before Cypress acquired Ramtron or more likely they are
counterfeit chips
. Counterfeit chips are readily available on AliExpress etc and are unreliable at best.
We only install authentic Cypress chips supplied by Mouser or RS Components and we can send chip serial and batch numbers if you have any concerns. Because we know these are quality chips each unit comes with

"The FM28V020 is a 32K × 8 nonvolatile memory that reads and writes similar to a standard SRAM. Ferroelectric random access memory (F-RAM) is nonvolatile, which means that data is retained after power is removed. It provides data retention for over 151 years while eliminating the reliability concerns, functional disadvantages, and system design complexities of battery-backed SRAM (BBSRAM). Fast write timing and highwrite endurance make the F-RAM superior to other types of memory."
Each unit has been formatted and tested multiple times, on both Pal and NTSC consoles, with multiple games to confirm full functionality. If upon receipt your unit is not working correctly we will send a replacement once we’ve received the faulty unit (see T&Cs). Please bear in mind the most common cause for memory paks failing is
dirty or corroded contacts in the controller
so please check and clean these with electrical contact cleaner and test your new unit in multiple controllers before requesting a replacement.

Orders from outside of of the UK may be subject to local import tariffs at your Country’s customs border. For buyers in North America - so far not one has incurred an import tariff at customs but we cannot guarantee this for future imports.

please message to arrange. We are very happy to do this for a lower price and we can back up the save data so that no precious saves are lost! Also, if you have a faulty memory pak and would like a repair then please message to arrange. We will attempt to diagnose the problem at no cost to you and then we can discuss the course of action (fixing, upgrading etc).
Terms and conditions
1. However, in the event that your item is damaged, faulty or not as expected upon receiving of the item, you must report this to Console Refresh within 48h of taking delivery.
2. Console Refresh is not responsible for any damage to items due to mishandling during postage to and from our workshop. We will securely pack repaired items to minimise the risk of damage and we will aid any customer claims that need to be made against the delivery service.
3. Returning a working unit (as sold) is accepted provided the buyer notifies Console Refresh, pays for the return delivery and we receive the item within 14 days. A full refund will be issued once the item has been received and determined to be in the same condition as sold.
4. Warranty period commences the day of purchase lasting for 3 years. Our warranty covers any malfunction that it is not attributable to user damage or neglect. The cost of postage to the Console Refresh workshop for a repair or replacement under warranty will not be covered by Console Refresh. Please contact Console Refresh before returning an item under warranty.
5. Serial numbers and other unique security and identification markings on circuit boards and components are visually recorded to resolve disputes and prevent warranty and returns fraud.
